QUT Science is under threat!
QUT’s Faculty of Science is on the brink of losing 21 passionate and talented staff and the destruction of two Schools under a rushed and unprecedented management plan. These aren’t just numbers — they’re the teachers, researchers, and professionals who bring science to life for thousands of students every year.
If these cuts go ahead, the impact will be devastating. Once this knowledge and expertise are gone, they won’t come back. We need the help of the community to stop this from happening.

Why is this important?
The proposed plan, in its current state, will have several consequences, including:
Reduced teaching quality
Less staff means less teachers with a narrower range of expertise, reducing the quality of education available to our students - both undergraduate and postgraduate.
Overworked staff
With fewer staff to spread the work across, those who remain will be forced to undertake larger, unsustainable workloads to maintain the current quality of education, research, administration, and much more.
Declined student well-being
A decrease in education quality and sudden change in the Faculty will lead to reduced student confidence in the quality of their course and that the university at large has their interests at heart.
Loss of expertise
Outgoing staff would take a wealth of research and industry knowledge with them that is nigh on impossible to replace, especially with a reduced workforce.
Projects left in limbo
Research projects that lose their driving members will likely be abandoned, leaving postgraduate students and industry partners limbo.
Reputational damages to QUT
QUT's reputation for science and technology will be tarnished - both nationally and internationally - by their shoddy handling of one of their supposed core faculties.
