QUT Management Responds

ree

On Thursday 13 October, QUT Management held a public forum to discuss the revised proposal. The following changes were made in comparison with the previous version:

Following consideration of feedback, the following decisions have been made:

  • The proposed changes to School structures will not proceed at this time.

  • The proposed creation of a centralised administrative team will not proceed at this time.

  • There will be no reduction in professional staff positions under this implementation plan.

  • The Faculty will progress with a call for voluntary redundancy applications from academic staff members, and there will be no involuntary redundancies as an outcome to this process.

Many of these changes were fought for by SOS team members and our supporters. The SOS rally was also mentioned, showing a direct link between our advocacy and QUT Management’s decision. The SOS team would like to thank our supporters, including those who attended the rally, signed the petition, and personally emailed the QUT Management team.

However, several issues remain and are likely to harm QUT staff and students, including the continued lack of teaching-intensive academic positions and insufficient support for students. While some we have won some of the battle, there is still a lot to fight for.
